Davison Chart Overview

The Davison chart merges two birth dates and locations into a single midpoint chart. It treats the relationship itself as an entity, revealing shared purpose and experiences that arise when two people interact. This method complements synastry by showing the energy of the bond as its own horoscope.

Primary Uses
- Explore a relationship's joint mission or destiny
- Pinpoint events and themes that bind two lives together
- Study the couple's composite strengths and challenges
- Forecast future developments by applying transits to the Davison chart

Focus on angles, luminary placement, and patterns repeating from each individual's natal chart to understand the union's core dynamic.

🧭 Construction & Method

Ronald C. Davison’s relationship chart (1977): a real chart cast for the midpoint in time and the midpoint in space between two births. Arithmetic: JD_mid = (JD_A + JD_B) / 2 (both in UT); φ_mid = (φ_A + φ_B) / 2; L_mid = (L_A + L_B) / 2, taking the shorter way around the globe (some programs use the great-circle midpoint instead). Because it is a real moment, the Davison chart has genuine planetary positions, houses and its own transits and progressions — unlike the composite (midpoint) chart.
