Technical Approach to Natal Charts
Technical Approach to Natal Charts
Use aspects, dignities, and chart geometry to derive precise readings. Evaluate house rulerships to see how planetary energies manifest in life circumstances. This method is ideal when crafting accurate forecasts.

🧭 Technical / Comprehensive Focus — Natal
What to look at, in order:
1. Score essential dignity (domicile, exaltation, triplicity, term, face; detriment/fall) for each traditional planet
2. Note retrograde planets and planets within 8°30′ of the Sun (combust) or 17′ (cazimi)
3. Read each house through its cusp sign, its ruler’s placement and any planets inside it
4. Compute aspect orbs exactly (see aspect notes) and mark applying vs separating
Cast for the exact moment and place of birth: convert local clock time to Universal Time (UT = local time − zone offset − DST), compute the Julian Day, local sidereal time (RAMC) and then the Ascendant and Midheaven from latitude, plus planetary longitudes from an ephemeris. A 4-minute error in birth time shifts the Ascendant by roughly 1° (more at high latitudes).
